
Larry Dunning, a long-time member of the Howard-Suamico Lions Club, was presented posthumously the club’s Distinguished Service Award at their meeting on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Larry Dunning, 78, passed away on May 7, 2021 from pancreatic cancer.
The award was presented to his daughter Brianna Knox on his behalf by Club President John Myers. The award signifies Larry’s dedication to the Lions Club and to the Howard-Suamico community. Larry has served as past club president and communications director and was active in many club project throughout the years.
The award also recognized his many contributions to our community. During his career as Bay Port High School principal, he was instrumental in helping to pass the referendum for the new high school. Later, he was a founding member of the Howard-Suamico Education Foundation—a non-profit organization that provides scholarships to Bay Port graduating seniors. Larry’s family has requested that memorial gifts can be made to the Howard-Suamico Education Foundation.
