The Howard Suamico Optimist Club is proud to announce the Second Annual ‘Hit the Trails’ 5K Run/3K Walk, set for Saturday September 9, 2023. The ‘Hit the Trails’ theme of “Choose Health and Happiness” will take you through the beautiful Reforestation Camp trail system. Proceeds from the race will go to support the NEW Zoo Youth Programs.
In addition, they are thrilled to announce the Cup Cake Sprint for those age 5 and under, champions will also be back this year! The Cup Cake Sprint will wind into the adventure park this year and takes place before the runners and walkers hit the trails. Registration for Cup Cake Sprinters is open. All participants must register.
The Suamico and Howard Fire Departments will be on site with several fire trucks on display, as well as, the nonprofit Reach-a-Child organization, handing out free books. The Reach-a-Child organization exists to assist first responders in comforting Children In Crisis.
Upon completion, all will be ushered to the Ski Shelter where awards will occur, as well as share in post-race snacks and refreshments, social and sharable moments, and a gift basket raffle.

Race day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 9th with the Cupcake Run starting off at 8:30 a.m.
