The Howard Fire Rescue (HFR) Department depends upon the timely and dedicated response of members who selflessly serve the community when the alarm sounds. The department is in desperate need of paid-on-call firefighters to join its team. Under the direction of HFR officers, a paid-on-call firefighter is responsible for responding to calls and extinguishing fires, protecting life and property, and operating and maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, and quarters. Firefighters also respond to emergency medical incidents to assist ambulance personnel in care and transfer of patients, help with fire inspections of buildings for hazards and fire code compliance, and conduct public education programs for fire safety/preparedness.
Whether you are a veteran firefighter or first responder or do not have any previous firefighting or emergency medical experience, HFR welcomes you to join the group of men and women who have made a solemn commitment to help their friends, family, and neighbors. All training is provided, and applicants from diverse backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply.
