North Shore Bank announced it will hold its 11th annual Community Shredding Day on Saturday, May 6th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The public is invited to visit any of North Shore Bank’s area branches to drop off outdated, personal documents for secure shredding.
Community Shredding Day is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine.
Paper materials will be accepted at all North Shore Bank branches in the Green Bay and Fox Valley areas, but those with large quantities of documents (1-2 bags) are encouraged to visit one of three local branches that will have special shredding trucks on site. Those locations are:
• Howard-Suamico–1838 Cardinal Lane in Suamico
• Green Bay East–1901 Main Street in Green Bay
• Appleton Northland–1100 W. Northland Ave. in Appleton
“We know that spring is the time of year when many people declutter their homes and sort through old personal documents,” said Sue Doyle, senior vice president of retail banking for North Shore Bank. “Our annual Community Shredding Day provides an opportunity for residents to reduce their financial paper trail and help protect against identity theft. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this free, secure service and drop off their outdated documents to any of our local branches.”
Last year the bank collected more than 40 tons of paper documents for secure shredding. All shredded materials are recycled after collection. Acceptable material for shredding, include paper with staples and paper clip.
Unacceptable materials include three/four ring binders, folders with the long skinny metal strips to hold papers in place, and black metal spring clips or anything similar. These items need to be separated and thrown in the trash or reused.
