Join the Howard-Suamico Business & Professional Association on Wednesday, March 10th at noon for it’s free monthly Noon, Zoom & Learn. March’s presentation will be presented by Kelly Demers of True North Performance.
The pandemic showed many companies they can successfully implement a work-at-home program for employees. That is meaningful because many employees consider it a benefit to work from home or enjoy having a flexible option to work from the office or from home most days of the week. That’s the good news.
The not-so-good news is that the increased amount of Zoom meetings and other business activities led to an increased number of hours tied to a desk — specifically, sitting for long periods of time or for those with a stand-up desk, standing in one place for long periods of time.
Sitting has replaced smoking as a major health concern and it is costing us big time. As the employer, the mounting costs associated with sitting are in the form of lost productivity, sick days, time off of work for doctors appointments, and an increased medical spending on health care — which results in higher health insurance premiums.
In this session, you’ll learn to identify the symptoms of sitting or standing still for too long as well as strategies to overcome them. These simple actions won’t take more than 15 minutes per day and may help reduce your employee healthcare costs and improve employee engagement and job satisfaction.
This event is open to all area residents and businesses. Register online at www.hsbpa.org today.
