On Friday, August 16th the Power of Dance senior team hosted a lock-in for the entire POD All-Star competitive team program. This annual event is the kickoff to the competition season, and an event that all team dancers look forward to each summer.
The Power of Dance seniors run this event every year as a fundraiser for their final competition of the season, Dance Worlds in Orlando, Florida. The dancers plan and lead the entire event, with support from their parents and coaches. The night is much more than just a fundraiser – it’s an opportunity for all POD team dancers to develop and strengthen relationships with not only their teammates but also with dancers from all other teams at the studio.
Power of Dance studio offers recreational dance classes for ages two through adult, and competitive dance teams for dancers ages 4 through 18. There are currently over 100 dancers in their team program. This year’s lock-in theme was “Game Night”, and participants of all ages enjoyed a bounce house, crafts, board games, food, movies and of course, lots of dancing.
Coming up in late October, the POD senior team will be hosting Parents’ Night Out, a Halloween party for kids in Kindergarten through 8th grade. In addition to a bounce house, crafts, games and other fun activities, it also includes a costume contest and “trunk or treat” in the Power of Dance studio parking lot.
This event is open to the public, so interested parents should follow POD on Facebook @powerofdancegb on on Instagram to be among the first to know when registration opens, as this event fills up quickly.
