Pastor Peter Heyn was installed as pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Howard on Sunday, May 19, 2024. His father Rev. Thomas Heyn preached on Ephesians 4:7-12 with the theme “Praise God for His Gracious Gifts.” These gifts include Jesus, the Scriptures, pastors, and God’s people.
Rev. Peter Heyn was born on March 27, 1980, in Milwaukee, WI. He is the oldest of nine children born to Rev. Thomas and LaRue Heyn. As a pastor’s son he was blessed to live in a number of different cities. He was confirmed at Mt. Olive Lutheran (WELS) in Appleton, WI in 1994, and graduated from Lakeside Lutheran High School in 1998. In 2004, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double majoring in history and secondary education (social studies emphasis). He then took two years of Classical Greek and Biblical Hebrew at UW-Madison, after which he studied at Bethany Lutheran Seminary in Mankato, MN. Rev. Peter Heyn graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2012. His final year was spent vicaring at a dual parish in Sonoma County, California. Upon completion of his vicarage, he served a temporary situation caring for the flock of Our Redeemer Lutheran in Brisbane, QLD, Australia for ten weeks before flying back to the States where he was ordained at Peace Lutheran Church of Lakeland, FL on August 26, 2012. Since his ordination, Pastor Heyn has served as pastor of Peace Lutheran in Lakeland, FL (2012-2015), Peace Lutheran in Deshler, Ohio (2015-2019), and as home missionary at Living Water Lutheran in San Angelo, Texas (2019-2024). While in San Angelo, he also served as military contact pastor for ELS/WELS members stationed at Goodfellow AFB. Pastor Heyn also currently serves as the secretary for the ELS Board on Apologetics.
Rev. Peter Heyn met his wife Andrea in Lakeland, Florida and what began as a mutual love for the Packers led to a dating relationship. They were married on May 10, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran (WELS) in South Haven, MI. They have been blessed with three daughters and a son: Elliana (9), Emma (7), Clara (5), and Caleb (2). Pastor Heyn enjoys hanging out with his family, as well as running (among other outdoor sports), music (listening and playing), and cheering on his WI sports teams: the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. He and Andrea are proud Packer owners.
Pastor Heyn and his family consider it a privilege to serve Christ the King Evangelical Church and are excited to share the message of God’s love and forgiveness with the people of Howard/Green Bay and surrounding area.
