The Howard Suamico Optimist Club is proud to announce the First Annual ‘Hit the Trails’ 5K Run / 3K Walk, set for Saturday, September 10, 2022. The ‘Hit the Trails’ theme of “Choose Health and Happiness” will take you through the beautiful Reforestation Camp trail system. They are also thrilled to announce a 1K Cup Cake Run for their beginner, 5 and under, champions. The Cup Cake run winds around the Duck Pond and takes place before the runners and walkers hit the trails.
The Suamico and Howard Fire Departments will be on site with several ‘Fire Trucks’ on display for Cup Cake Inspection as well the nonprofit Reach a Child organization, handing out free books. The Reach a Child organization exists to assist first responders in comforting Children-In-Crisis.
Proceeds from this race will go to NEW Zoo Youth Programs. Once runners complete the race, they will be ushered to the North Shelter where trophy and medal awards will occur as well as share in post-race food and refreshment options, social and sharable moments, and a gift basket raffle.
