The second annual Berner 5K Run/Walk is just around the corner, and event organizers want you to join them for another unforgettable day of fun, fitness, and community spirit!
Hosted by Suamico’s Paramount Run Club (PRC), the race kicks off Saturday, May 17, at 9:00 a.m. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or enjoying a scenic walk, this event has something for everyone.
After a successful inaugural event in 2024, PRC aims to grow the race and continue fostering a supportive local running community.
Founded in 2023, PRC has grown into more than just a running group — it’s a space for friendship, fitness, and encouragement. The race, named after the energetic Bernese Mountain Dog, welcomes all paces — runners and walkers alike.
For those that already know this breed, they are happy, stubborn, and downright goofy dogs. Just like many runners are — so it seemed like the perfect mascot for this race. And who doesn’t like a good play on words with the word “Berner”? It implies fast, right? Ironically these dogs aren’t always so and that’s just fine! Come as you are — fast, slow, runner, or walker. This race is about building community —not how fast you run it, that’s the motto.
Last year’s event drew 130 participants, and this year, PRC is aiming for in excess of 250. Expect a lively atmosphere, great company, and even some craft beer to celebrate post-run.
