Tender Hearts Assisted Living, located at 300 Cardinal Lane in the Village of Howard, has expanded their existing CBRF assisted living to include an additional 10 beds and secured outside courtyard. Bayland Building, Inc. was the general contractor and has completed the project ahead of schedule with a completion date of March 5.
Tender Hearts Assisted Living is a family owned and operated by Rachel A. Goffard, RN, CAEd and her husband Chris R. Goffard. Rachel A. Goffard, RN, CAEd has over 30 years of experience in long term care which is a huge benefit to the residents and families. “I have been around the elderly starting at a very young age. I remember when I was really young, I used to visit the nursing home when my mom was working and color with them by numbers. This always put a big smile on their face and making them smile is what always stuck with me. When I would visit with them, they would also tell me stories about their childhood and I thought that was so neat. I knew as a kid I wanted to be a nurse and work with the elderly to make them smile. When we built our first facility in 2009, it was important to me to create an atmosphere as close to home as possible, but with assistance. This is their home said Rachel.”
Both Chris and Rachel work at the facility on a full-time basis. “We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure the residents receive the highest level of care said Rachel. We can also complete resident admissions during emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days week. Things can happen fast and we always want the elderly and families to know we are here to help them.” Our goal is to provide the highest level of services available to the elderly, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, physically disabled, and terminally ill.
Tender Hearts Assisted Living is dedicated to taking care of the elderly, keeping them in a fun, secure, homelike environment. The existing facilities and new 10 bed addition are monitored by a 24-hour video surveillance system and a push button keypad to either enter or exit the facility. All entrance and exit doors are locked at all times for the resident’s safety. Family members and friends can visit 24/7 with the door entrance security code.
All suites have a private bathroom with a handicap friendly walk-in shower. Each suite also has individual heating and cooling controls, refrigerator, and cable television. When residents come to Tender Hearts Assisted Living, they are provided a push button pennant to tell the staff they need assistance. This can be pushed at any time of the day or night for assistance.
According to Rachel Goffard, they will only employ the most qualified staff which will be specifically trained to provide the highest level of care provided to the early to end stage of Alzheimer’s/Dementia along with encouraging, assisting, and motivating our residents to enjoy life to its fullest extent. The staff are also trained to administer medications and ensure excellent execution of the individual medical care plan. They have employees who have been with them since they first opened in 2009. Their employees deeply care about the residents and their families. They go above and beyond to provide the best care possible. We are very thankful each and every day for the care our staff provide. Rachel added that they would not have been able to complete their 10-bed expansion without the help of their dedicated employees.
Chris and Rachel Goffard believe that only through working as a team that they will be able to meet their resident’s needs physically, psychosocially, and spiritually. At Tender Hearts Assisted Living they will provide a vast variety of superior services from basic nursing care to detailed care involving diabetic management, medication management, specialized memory care and end of life services.
All of the meals and desserts are home cooked daily by a full-time cook. Tender Hearts Assisted Living is able to accommodate most special individual diets. They also provide fruit and snacks 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
