The 18th Annual Jerry Parins “Cruise for Cancer” event, which was held at at Vandervest Harley-Davidson of Green Bay, was a huge success acccording to event organizer Lynn Vandervest of Vandervest Harley-Davidson.
“The generous hearts of people on that day was something everyone should witness,” said Vandervest.

Vandervest said the event drew over 480 riders and passengers and raised approximately $151,000 for cancer organizations and hospitals in the Green Bay area. In the past 16 years, the Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer Foundation has donated more than $2 million to these causes.

In addition, six people battling cancer and their families were honored on the day of the event. The families rode in vehicles donated by Broadway Chevrolet.
Local fire and police departments volunteered their time to help make the hour long ride an enjoyable and safe ride. Upon their return to Vandervest H-D, people participated in a tailgate party, which included bucket raffles, live and silent auction, and food trucks to accommodate everyone’s tastes.

The Packerland Harley Owners Group (HOG) assisted in running the event.
Top pledge winners were Jim Stallard with $18,500, Lynn Vandervest with $3,000, and MJ Kapla with $2,000. In addition, Amy and Tap Pruitt surprised everyone by giving a $20,000 donation. Amy is a brain cancer survivor.
