Howard-Suamico Lions Club members, Bob and Tina DeBeck, were recently presented with the prestigious Lions International President’s Award at the Lions District Conference in Appleton. The Award is given to Tina and Bob in recognition for their extensive work in bringing diabetes awareness to the Howard-Suamico/Green Bay Area.
Diabetes is a growing problem world wide and can be prevented in some cases with simple life style changes. The DeBecks have distributed over 36,000 articles on diabetes throughout the past year, spoken to seven different organizations and held blood testing clinics at local sites and YMCAs. In addition, they have collected over 8,400 pairs of eyeglasses for distribution in Central and South America to those who could otherwise not afford glasses.
