The Howard-Suamico Lions Club will be holding its second White Cane Drive of the year on Saturday, October 12th. All contributions to the White Cane Drive will be used to help the world wide Lions mission to help prevent blindness and help people see.

Over 100 years ago the famous humanitarian, Helen Keller, challenged the newly formed Lions Clubs to adopt prevention of blindness as a mission. For the last 100 years, the Lions have worked to accomplish that mission with programs such as vision screening for children, providing vouchers for eyeglasses for needy children, and collection of used eyeglasses to be distributed world wide to people who otherwise would have no access to glasses.

The Howard-Suamico community has been very generous over the past several years contributing thousands of dollars at White Cane events. On Saturday, October 12th, The Lions will again be at four sites from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The locations for the White Cane Drive include Kimps Ace Hardware in Howard, the Kwik Trip locations on Lineville Road in Suamico, Cardinal Lane in Howard and Shawano Avenue in Green Bay. Please look for the Lions and help continue to carry out Helen Keller’s challenge of preventing blindness.
