The fifth annual Howard Community Fireworks Show on Friday, June 29 will light up more than just the sky this year. Activities for all ages are planned at two locations in the hours leading up to the professional display hosted by Spielbauer Fireworks Company.

Popular local band Big Mouth and the Power Tool Horns will rock the audience from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Village Center, located at Howard Commons and Elm Tree Hill. Food and beverage trucks also will be on hand for the concert.

Family friendly activities and games will be available from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park. Food, refreshments, and an ice cream truck also will be on site.

Howard decided to host an Independence Day fireworks display in 2014 due to a growing number of requests from residents wishing to have a family friendly event in their own community. The celebration has become an annual event and has grown each year.

“Our vision for the Howard Fireworks Show five years ago was to have an event that would be fun and appropriate for residents and visitors of all ages,” said Village Administrator Paul Evert. “We’re proud to now offer activities and entertainment before the show and to be able to use the new Village Center to help separate the crowd a little bit to maintain the family friendly environment at Meadowbrook Park.”
