Kim’s Tae Kwon Do & Judo recently celebrated 50 years by honoring Grand Master Yung Sam Kim, for founding the school in 1973. Celebrations included a belt rank promotion testing, three hours of demonstrations and an awards dinner.

On April 29th, Master Kim tested and reviewed students for their next Tae Kwon Do and Judo belt ranks. New First Degree Judo Black Belts are Ashley Barkow and Graysen Tryon. New TKD First Degrees are Kayla Vogels, Alexandra Stocker, Natalie Reif, Grant Meeks, Talisa Costea and Steven Hubbard. New TKD Second Degrees are Tammy Blan, Shawn Christenson and Chris Jennings. New TKD Third Degree is Jake Davidson. New TKD Sixth Degrees are Master Mark Christensen and Master Brian Verheyden. New TKD Seventh Degree is Master Penny Duggan.

On April 30th, celebrations continued at the Woodfield Court Motor Condos Clubhouse with three hours of demonstrations and booyah for the public. Demonstrations included Iaido Sword, Filipino Stick, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Self-Defense, Forms, Sparring, and Board & Brick Breaking. Collections and a bake sale raised $4,600 for Jerry Parins “Cruise for Cancer”. The day ended with a private awards dinner for 100 black belts & special guests to honor Master Kim for 50 years of service. Master Penny Duggan orchestrated the event which included photo displays, speeches, award presentations, and noted accomplishments of the school. The highlight of the event was thanking Master Kim for founding Kim’s Tae Kwon Do & Judo in 1973 and for his continued support and guidance. The evening ended with guitar music and a balloon drop to the song, Time of Your Life by Green Day.
