Ten years ago, Inara Petty of Suamico along with her sister Athena, asked her parents if she could take a dance class. After some pretty extensive research of local studios they decided to sign both their daughters up for classes at the Power of Dance Studio located in Howard-Suamico. Little did her parents know, how much this would change the girls’ lives.
Inara started dancing at age three in a Music and Movement class and fell in love with it instantly. Two years later she was invited to try out for the competitive Tiny All Star team and was hooked.
Fast forward eight years, add a ton of hard work, some incredible teachers, and you have the amazing dancer Inara has become today. This weekend Inara is dancing in Orlando Florida at the Dance Worlds as a team member of the Power Of Dance’s Senior All Star Pom and Jazz teams. And while she wouldn’t trade this opportunity for anything, her true love is actually Ballet.
Inara started taking ballet classes when she joined the Tiny All Stars in 2013. In 2018, she was invited to participate in the Ballet Intensive program at Power Of Dance.
Early in 2021, she decided that ballet was her love and added private lessons with Ballet Master Tracy Mozingo to really focus on her technique and some additional Pointe work.
Then this year, Inara auditioned for the prestigious Summer Ballet Intensive Program at South Carolina’s School of the Arts and was not only accepted, but based on her high marks, was granted a small scholarship. Her parents credit Power Of Dance for not only giving her an incredible ballet foundation but for creating a love of dance and encouraging her to pursue her dreams. Congratulations Inara, on this prestigious opportunity. This fall, Inara intends to continue dancing and training at the Power Of Dance and is looking forward to working with the next generation of little dancers as an assistant for the POD Tiny All Stars and Pre-ballet classes.
